Quadrant develops high-precision Semitron machining plates

Reading News, Pennsylvania, United States, using Quadrant's new Semitron® MDS 100 machining design upgrades, equipment engineers and designers who have high requirements for accuracy and reliability will have more choices.

The Semitron MDS 100 platform is rugged and reliable and can be used in the following areas: socket test for semiconductor test and packaging equipment - equipment for electronic test - acupoint application for precise diagnostic equipment - in flexural modulus (ASTM D790 ) Small motion control positioning platforms at more than 1,400,000 psi and water absorption (24 hours, ASTM D570) below 10%. The Semitron MDS 100 solves engineering problems in uncontrollable applications. Its low thermal linear expansion (ASTME831, 1.1 x 10-5) also gives the product superior performance. Its thermal bending or softening temperature (ASTM D648) is 410F (210C). At the largest semi-conductor manufacturing trade fair in the world held by SemiWest, Fred Sanford, manager of the global advanced materials business line, said: “We are proud to be able to provide the market with such a promising material,” added Sanford. The processable form of Torlon® PAI (polyamide imide) is an industry standard for socket testing and many other electronic devices, and we expect Semitron MDS 100 material to perfectly complement it.”

The company offers Semitron MDS 100 sheet thicknesses from 1 mm to 6 mm (.04 to .236") and 250 mm x 250 mm (9.84") and 500 mm x 500 mm (19.68"). Other thickness plates are also available under demand.
