Since September, China’s machinery manufacturing sector has entered its peak season, often referred to as “Jin 9 Silver 10.” Many companies have ramped up production to meet rising end-of-year orders. During an interview, reporters found that some previously unrecognized Chinese manufacturers have successfully expanded their overseas markets, thanks in part to the financial crisis. This year, international orders have surged. Li Yong, General Manager of Wenzhou Dingye Packaging Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd., shared that the company now faces a high demand for its products abroad, with shortages occurring frequently. According to Li’s conservative estimate, overseas orders for the company are expected to rise by at least 20% in September and October this year compared to last year. Founded in 1991, Wenzhou Dingye is a leading player in the domestic packaging machinery industry. This year, the company launched a newly developed packaging machine that filled a gap in the domestic market. Since its launch, the product has been in high demand. Additionally, Wenzhou Dingye and other domestic manufacturers have gained recognition from foreign clients, sometimes starting from the aftermath of the financial crisis. Li explained that before the financial crisis, European and American users held certain prejudices against Chinese packaging machinery. As a result, Chinese products were often exported to less developed countries. However, during the global financial crisis, many European and American customers reduced costs and began exploring alternatives, which created opportunities for Chinese companies to showcase their capabilities. "After one year of use, foreign users started recognizing the quality of our products," Li said. Last year, the company saw a 20% increase in sales, driven largely by export growth, which surpassed its original target by more than double. By the end of August this year, sales had already risen by 20.5%. "The financial turmoil hit many companies hard, but for us, it was an opportunity." Industry experts emphasize that in the face of growing market demands, Chinese food packaging machinery companies must accelerate independent innovation to catch up with and even surpass their counterparts in developed countries. Developing a group of products with independent intellectual property rights and international standards is an urgent task. While there are still few specialized R&D firms in the domestic packaging machinery sector, some manufacturers have made remarkable progress in manufacturing quality, technical performance, and automation. Especially in areas like beer and beverage filling equipment, the industry has achieved high levels of efficiency, reliability, and completeness. The emergence of mechatronics has further fueled the demand for automated packaging machines.
