Wood bending is the process of softening a wood, bending it into a desired curved shape under the action of a bending moment, and drying it. Wood cannot be softened by heat from fire, but it can be softened by steam.

The bending properties of wood of different tree species vary greatly, even if the same tree species have different bending properties in different parts of the same tree.
Hardwood > softwood > soft broadleaf;
Juvenile wood, sapwood>old age and core material;
Straight grain > twill material
The tree species with good bending performance are verified by production practice. The hardwoods are wood such as eucalyptus, eucalyptus, ash, beech, birch, and the softwood is better than pine and spruce.
Moisture content
The water content has a great influence on the bending quality and processing cost for the moisture content of the wool;
The moisture content is too low and the wool is easily broken;
If the moisture content is too high, the static pressure is formed due to excessive moisture when the wool is bent, and it is easy to cause waste, and the shaping drying time of the curved parts is also prolonged;
The square material having a water content of 10% to 15% may be directly bent without softening treatment, and the moisture content of the bent wool after the softening treatment is preferably in the range of 25% to 30%.
