DuPont Launches Enhanced Teflon Composites

DuPont UK Ltd. recently introduced a Teflon composite material under the trade name "Zymaxx" and has been marketed in the European market.
According to reports, the new PTFE material has good chemical resistance and creep resistance, and its durability and wear resistance are relatively good. DuPont's use of this high-temperature resistant Teflon material, as well as special composite materials made of specially treated carbon fiber reinforced materials, not only has good durability and wear resistance, but also has a high mechanical performance retention rate at high temperatures.
After testing the creep properties of tetrafluoroethylene samples, it was found that the creep value was 15% at a temperature of 260°C and a load of 6.9 MPa. However, at the same temperature and at the same time, when the applied load was increased by a factor of 1, the creep of the Zymaxx composite was almost not observed. At a temperature of 260°C, the compressive strength of the Zymaxx composite reaches 138 MPa. And through comparative test results, it is found that the wear coefficient and dynamic friction coefficient of Teflon and Zymaxx composites are basically equal at temperatures below 200°C; and at temperatures above 200°C, the Teflon composites are reinforced. The performance is significantly better than the unreinforced Teflon material.
It is reported that this new type of Zymaxx PTFE composite material has been widely used in the United States and has won favorable comments from customers in various fields such as the chemical industry, petroleum refining industry, fluid power engineering and thermal management departments.
