Flammable items are items that easily burn under normal conditions. Flammable items include: flammable liquids, flammable solids, spontaneously combustible items, water-inflammable items, etc.

(1) Packing of flammable liquids

Flammable liquids are organic compounds that are liquid at room temperature. They have a small molecular weight, a low boiling point, and are highly volatile. They burn in the event of an open flame and explode in the presence of Mars if the concentration in the air reaches a certain limit. In addition, they have low viscosity, strong penetrating power, and easily leak along small gaps. These include: gasoline, ethanol, acetone, banana water, turpentine and so on.

(2) Packing of self-ignited items

Spontaneous combustion products refer to a class of items that can be combusted with air in normal temperatures to cause combustion, such as yellow phosphorus, trinitronitrite, and the like. They are chemically active, easily oxidized, and emit a large amount of heat. Since the ignition point is generally low, spontaneous combustion occurs when the heat raises the temperature to the ignition point.

Spontaneous combustion products are mainly self-ignited due to the generation of large amounts of heat in combination with oxidation. Therefore, oxygen barrier packaging is the main method. Such as packaging yellow phosphorus, it can be immersed in water, placed in a thick iron barrel, coated with acid coating on the inner wall, and then sealed tightly packed; packaging of nitrocellulose film, although it is more spontaneous than the yellow phosphorus, but it is easy to explode, it can be used The sturdy metal boxes are tightly sealed and then packed in metal containers or solid wooden boxes.

(3) Packing of flammable solids

Combustible solids refer to a type of crystals that are solid at room temperature, have a low ignition point, and can burn or explode when subjected to heat, impact, or friction, such as making paper, matches, red phosphorus, sulfur, and metal magnesium powder.

Such items are greatly affected by environmental factors. Sealing, vibration isolation, and heat insulation are the main considerations in packaging. Generally, multilayer packaging is required. For example, red phosphorus is first packed in metal containers, and then loaded into a strong wooden box with cushioning liners; the ordering paper, matches, etc. are first packed in cartons, and then filled with cushioning materials in cartons and wooden boxes; sulphur, nitrocellulose, etc. Sealed with a metal container first, and then into a strong wooden box, etc., pay attention to each package should not be too heavy.

(4) Packing of water-burning articles

Water-in-combustion articles are those that are decomposed in water or in moist air to produce combustible gas. Body, which emits heat and causes combustion of a class of items, such as potassium, sodium and other active metals; metal hydrides such as sodium hydride, calcium hydride; metal carbides such as aluminum carbide, calcium carbide, etc.

Water and water vapor are the main causes of the burning of such items. Therefore, special attention should be paid to sealing, moisture protection, and oxygen barrier during packaging. For example, metal potassium, sodium, etc. shall be packed in glass bottles or metal containers containing no mineral oil or paraffin, and then sealed tightly and then packed in firm iron boxes or wooden boxes.
