New PET bottle shielding technology

Tetra Pak is experimenting with two modern PET bottle high shielding technologies and plans to commercialize it early next year.

The first development was the coating innovation on the inside of blow-molded bottles, a pure crystalline transparent layer containing silica. The Tetra Pak inner coating system can be applied to PET bottles of various sizes of 2 liters or more, with a capacity of 18,000 bottles/hour. The Tetra Pak second system is a PET bottle injection molding preform system with a special shielding material. This technique can be detected online and variable, and allows for greater concentrations of coating. At the same time, the shielding level can be determined according to the requirements of consumers. The preforming of the shielding material will contain the entire stretch blow molding system depending on the use.
