2011 Outdoor Knowledge Season One: Tibet's Top Ten Hiking Routes

1: Turning of Mount Kailash to the mountain (2 days)

One of the most well-known hiking routes in Tibet, as long as you understand Tibet, will generally know this line.

Gang Rinpoche is one of the most famous mountain in Tibet. He is regarded as the center of the world by Tibetan Buddhism and is also the god of Hinduism, Jainism and Bon religion.

In August 2009, I had the privilege of walking around Giang Rinpoche on a lap. I was exhausted, but I was very satisfied.

On the way, they met Hindus from India. They believed that every Hindu must come once. They felt that they would take a lap around the Rinpoche Rinpoche (Kyrath) and then bathe in Machado’s mistakes. The sins of going to life. Many Indians died on their way to the mountain. For themselves and their companions, this is a great happy ending. Everyone has no sadness, only happiness and envy.

Tibetan Buddhists also believe that after a roundabout of Rinpoche, they can wash away their sins and circle 108 times to become a Buddha in this world.

The greatest test for this trail is its high elevation, with an average elevation of 4700 meters, especially the Zhuomala Mountain Pass, with an altitude of 5630 meters, and a relatively large climate change. It is very common for ordinary tourists who arrive in Tibet soon. The big test, of course, is not a big problem for senior donkeys. The biggest advantage of this line is that as long as the season is right, there will be more believers on the mountain.

2: Lhasa - Chubu Temple - Yangbajing (2-3 days)

This line is a relatively mature line and has a great reputation. It is known as one of China's 20 classic hiking routes.

The Chubu Temple is the main temple of the Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism and it is also the resident place of the Karmapa (Dabao King). After the fall of the Tubo Kingdom, the Kagyupa ruled Tibet for hundreds of years. The Kagyupa School is also the branch with the most branches in Tibetan Buddhism. There are four branches and eight small branches. It is said that among the Tibetan Buddhist believers in Europe and America now, the Kagyu School is believed to occupy the majority.

Yangbajain, a junior high school geography school, had very famous geothermal resources. Now there are many hot spring resorts. However, compared with other famous hot springs in Tibet, Yangbajain has a general feeling and the development traces are a bit heavy.

This line of walking can not only understand some of the history of the Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism, but also feel the prairie scenery of Tibet and enjoy the fun of hot springs in the plateau, and the difficulty is not very great.

3: Lhasa - Ganden Monastery (Gama Ditch) - Qingpu Xiudong - Samye Monastery (4-5 days)

Gandan Monastery, one of the six major temples of the Gelug Sect (Huangjiao), and a monastery built by Master Tsongkhapa, can also be said to be the ancestral temple of Gelugpa. Samye Monastery, the first temple in Tibet, Baidu Encyclopedia said, Samye Temple has "the name of Tibet's first temple", this is not a good name, this is a fact. The Samye Monastery was built in 762 AD. It was completed in 779 AD, so many people would ask that the Jokhang Temple had a history of 1350 years ago. According to this statement, the Jokhang Temple should be built around 660 AD. Why did the Samye Monastery built 100 years later be called the first temple in Tibet? The reason is that the construction of the Jokhang Temple was built to pray for Princess Wencheng’s 12-year-old statue from Sakyamuni brought from Tang Dynasty. The Tibetan language is called “Zulakang”. Lacan means to worship Buddha’s house. Or by the church. After the completion of the Samye Monastery, there were monks selected from among the Tibetan nobles, and here they taught the study of the scriptures. Therefore, the Samye Monastery was the first monastery in Tibet's history to be the first Buddha, law, and religion.

Qingpu Xiuhang Cave is one of the four hidden holy places of Tibetan Buddhism and is also one of the most famous among the many practice holes in Tibet.

This line is basically a religious line. After this line is completed, it will have a basic understanding of Tibetan Buddhism.

There is also a similar route, starting from Jiamagou in Mozhugongka County, passing through Qingpu, to Samye Monastery.

In this line, Jiamagou is the birthplace of the greatest Zanp Songtsan Gamb in Tubo’s history. Every summer, the rural scenery here is fascinating.
