Japan's polyurethane adhesive production reached 20,000 tons in 2005

According to statistics from the Japan Adhesion Industry Association, the production of waterborne polymer-isocyanate adhesives in Japan in 2004 was 20041t, an increase of 8.8% from 2004.

After the Japanese construction industry regulations were introduced in 2003, the release of formaldehyde was strictly limited. Therefore, urea-formaldehyde resin adhesives for plywood and various building materials were gradually replaced by water-based polymer-isocyanate adhesives, which led to the continuous growth of such adhesives. Its export volume also increased from 1210 t in 2001 to 6809 t in 2004. In 2005, the output of reactive polyurethane adhesive was 49,938 t, which was 5.3% lower than in 2004. In 2004, the export volume was 2246 t and the import volume was 886 t.
