U.S. Launches New Chemicals for Cosmetic Packaging

Nova Chemicals of the United States introduced an acrylic copolymer that can replace polycarbonate, Zylar 631, for injection molding. The new product not only has good transparency but also has good impact performance. There are 8 different types of basic formulas in the Zylar series, including UV light and antistatic types. Compared with other competing resins, its energy and labor costs can be reduced by 40%. The processing temperature is lower than the polycarbonate 38 °C. Target markets include: medical devices, ground appliances, cosmetic packaging, and commercial vending machines.
