German use of recyclable packaging may increase demand for aluminum

The German government is planning to use new recyclable materials on the packaging of beverage cans to achieve the goal of 72% of beverage packaging as recyclable materials. However, the relevant parties said that this will not only reduce the use of aluminum, but may increase the demand for aluminum.

At present, about 10-15% of beverage cans in Germany are all aluminum, and the remainder is part of aluminum.

The President of the German Alcoa Association stated that due to the good recycling of aluminum, countries such as Sweden, which use recyclable packaging, are using aluminum in large quantities. Therefore, the use of recyclable packaging will not only reduce the amount of aluminum used, but may increase the demand for aluminum.
