David Charette, the founder and principal of Britto Charette, envisioned creating a magical space where time seemed to stand still, allowing kids to immerse themselves in endless adventures. Partnering with CIRCU Magical Furniture, David sought to craft a room that would inspire young minds and ignite their creativity. Drawing from his passion for travel, David incorporated pieces from CIRCU, Covet House, and other select vendors to create a luxury kids’ room design that exudes charm, wonder, and the enchantment of exploration.
In a residence nestled in the heart of Montreal, where winter reigns supreme and daylight is scarce, David aimed to design a space filled with warmth and brightness. The project began with a fresh mint-colored de Gournay hand-painted wall covering adorned with flying butterflies, which beautifully complemented the whimsical KOKET Nymph Wall Lamp and the ergonomic Tristen Bed by CIRCU. The Tristen Bed, with its youthful appeal and ease of access, became a focal point of the room, reflecting David's commitment to functionality and aesthetics.
The modern lines of the Tristen Bed were harmoniously paired with the unique Boca do Lobo Wave Nightstand and the playful Delightfull Billy Table Lamp, creating a blend of contemporary and classic elements. This fusion brought a breath of fresh air to the luxury kids’ room, offering a space that inspired creativity and curiosity. Above the bed, a striking Giraffe Chandelier by Marc Antonio hung from the 22-foot ceilings, adding a touch of whimsy and enhancing the overall design.
Adjacent to the sleeping area, a cozy seating nook invites kids to lose themselves in their favorite fairy tales. Here, the CIRCU Dainty Armchair, upholstered in pink velvet, provides a vibrant pop of color and elegance. To further define the space, David introduced a Boca Do Lobo Gold Folding Screen, creating a gentle separation between the reading area and the sleeping zone.
The Play and Study Area: Where Adventures Take Flight
Inspired by his love for adventure and travel, David envisioned a play area with an "Out of Africa" vibe, encouraging children to explore and dream. Recalling his own childhood camping experiences, he integrated a Teepee Tent, allowing kids to feel like they're camping amidst an enchanted forest within the safety of their room. The Fornasetti wall covering and Filigree Cricket Wall Lamps by Boca do Lobo enhance the nature-inspired theme, while the Circu Cloud Suspension Lamps add a dreamy ambiance.
For relaxation and storytelling, the CIRCU NODO Suspension Chair offers both comfort and elegance, bringing an outdoor feel indoors. Meanwhile, the Sky Desk, shaped like an airplane, serves as the centerpiece of the study area, turning homework into an exciting journey and fostering a sense of freedom and imagination.
By designing this luxury kids’ room, David hoped to instill a love for exploration and creativity in children, encouraging them to dream big and appreciate the wonders of nature. Recognizing the importance of transitional spaces that grow with children, David emphasized the value of investing in high-quality, unique pieces like those from Circu and Covet House, which offer timeless charm beyond standard mass-market options.
