The L-1000D is a thermostatic closed ultrasonic reactor designed for a wide range of applications, including sonochemical reactions, enzymatic processes, nanomaterial synthesis, animal and plant cell disruption, virus cell lysis, emulsification, homogenization, demulsification, dehydration, separation, extraction, digestion, reduction, defoaming, petroleum oxidative desulfurization, treatment of refractory organic wastewater, cleaning of oily sludge, deoiling, dehydration of residual biological sludge, algae removal, algae inhibition, sterilization, and cleaning. Its versatility makes it widely applicable in fields such as chemical engineering, materials science, environmental engineering, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmaceutical chemistry, surface chemistry, physics, and zoology.

There are two main types of ultrasonic generators: mechanical and electromechanical. Mechanical generators include pneumatic (air whistles) and hydraulic (liquid whistles), while electromechanical ones include ultrasonic cleaners, acoustic horns, and cup reactors. The concentrated acoustic horn is immersed directly into the reaction liquid, allowing high-power ultrasonic transducers to deliver energy efficiently. This method converts electrical energy into mechanical energy, with the amplitude of the ultrasonic wave adjustable to control the energy level. It is commonly used in laboratory-scale extractions and chemical studies.

The acoustic horn immersion reactor offers advantages like adjustable sound intensity and higher energy output. However, it also has some drawbacks, such as difficulty in temperature control and potential corrosion of the probe surface, which may lead to contamination of the reaction mixture.
